London To Bayeux by Bicycle In Memory Of Paul Douglas and James Brolan
Friday 29th May 2009 10:58 >>> UPDATE! >>> THEY'VE DONE IT!!!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/user/BayeuxByBike Welcome! What began six months ago as a self-described "stupid idea" has become reality. At around 10am on Monday 25th May 2009 in front of the Church Of St Brides in Fleet Steet, Central London, we three, not-so fat anymore, and not so-unfit anymore, journalists will set off for the Journalists Memorial in Bayeux, Normandy, France. We aim to complete the journey in five days, arriving in Bayeux on May 29th, three years to the day that our colleagues and friends, Paul Douglas and James Brolan, were killed by a roadside bomb in Baghdad. In the four months since we announced our trip we have so far raised more than seventeen thousand pounds to be split evenly between The Rory Peck Trust and Reporters Without Borders, two charities who work tirelessly to protect and support journalists and their families all over the world. The donation site at www.justgiving.com/bayeuxbybike will remain open for a few more weeks so please donate and if you have already then a huge thank you from us and the families of Paul and James. Each day on this site from Monday afternoon we'll be uploading some photos and a short blog on how the day has gone so you can follow our progress. Just click on the links on the left Please visit the website below to donate http://www.justgiving.com/bayeuxbybike Thank you for your support. Andy Clarke, Mark Ludlow, and Andy Stevenson. |
